Elaine Parker-Johnson - Chief Executive

Elaine Parker-Johnson has been Chief Executive of Making Space since 2003 having joined the organisation in 1989.  During her time with Making Space, Elaine has held various management positions.
 
Elaine is a qualified Social Worker, has an IPD qualification to Director Level, she attended Salford University to study for an MBA and most recently completed, a Diploma in Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Elaine’s experience of mental health services covers a wide base and she has been instrumental in the development of innovative services.

In addition to her role with Making Space Elaine plays an active part in the development of the sector nationally.  She currently sits on the editorial board of the Housing, Care and Support Journal and is the Chair of the Mental Health Providers Forum.

Gaynor Chisnall - Director of Operations

Gaynor started working for Making Space in 1990, working in residential homes and then became manager at Making Space’s home Rivacre, in Ellesmere Port.

She moved to Lyne House in Warrington as Assistant Residential Homes Manager in 1992 and was appointed to her current post over two years ago.

Gaynor has recently been chosen to represent the Voluntary Sector on the Council for Governors at the Lancashire Care NHS Foundation trust.

Catherine Murray-Howard – Director of Development

Catherine Murray-Howard is Director of Development at Making Space, having joined in June 2009 from NVQ Training and Consultancy, one of the UK’s largest Health & Social Care training providers, where she had been Director of Marketing.

Her formative career, in the commercial radio industry, saw her follow a successful tenure as Managing Director of Wire FM in Warrington with promotion to Group Marketing Director for The Wireless Group (Wire FM’s parent company).

Following the birth of her daughter in 2000, Catherine worked for 6 years in the training & consultancy sector where she used her expertise to secure contracts to deliver sales, marketing and management guidance for businesses of all sizes and at all levels. Her strategic planning skills have been used to assist many businesses over the years.

Catherine will complete the final year of an MBA in 2010, having gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Management, and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Wyn Jones - Director of Finance

Wyn is a Chartered Certified Accountant with experience of working in the private sector, NHS and the charity world.  His NHS experience was gained as Deputy Director of Finance at the Weald of Kent Community NHS Trust. 
Wyn joined Making Space in September 2004 after working for the Leonard Cheshire charity.

Wyn’s primary responsibility is to ensure Making Space’s ongoing financial viability and he is also responsible for delivery of Making Space’s IT Strategy.

Kenneth Power - Director of Human Resources

Kenneth joined Making Space in January 2007 as Director of Human Resources and is accountable to the Chief Executive as an Executive Officer, with reporting responsibility to the Board of Trustees for the strategic and operational management of the organisation and the Human Resources function to achieve market competitiveness, continuous improvement and effectiveness.

Kenneth previously worked for Positive Steps Oldham where he was the Group Human Resources Manager / Deputy Director of Corporate Services.  He has previously worked for the private and public sector including the Learning and Skills Council, South and East Cheshire TEC, Chester Colwyn Training, Arcadian and Forte Hotels.

Kenneth is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, holding a Masters and Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.  Kenneth’s work has been subject to national and international research in the areas of Recruitment and Retention (IDS Study) and Competencies (IRS Research).
