Partnerships

Trust is the defining value in any partnership.

The care and support Making Space provides for people with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and dementia – and their carers – is all based on trust in each other. Trust always to do the right thing.

We continue to work positively for the people who use our services in co-operation with the statutory bodies in the NHS and local authorities around the country.

We work closely with many Housing Associations to provide the ideal environment, and where round the clock support is available, to promote each individual’s wellbeing.

Approved mental health practitioners, consultant psychiatrists, counsellors, nursing care advocates and employment advisors are all essential partners in Making Space’s commitment to giving people their freedom to enjoy an everyday life.

Making Space is also a founder member of the Mental Health Providers Forum (MHPF) - a partnership of organisations working to improve the lives of all those affected by mental health conditions.

The MHPF grew out of meetings between like-minded organisations operating in the voluntary sector of mental health provision. In 2005 it became an organisation in its own right, bringing together some familiar names in mental health provision including MIND, Rethink, Mental Health Matters, Together, Making Space and a host of others.

Today, the MHPF aims to improve the range and quality of mental health services in the UK by supporting and promoting information exchange and the sharing of best practice across the voluntary, statutory and private sectors.

Elaine Parker-Johnson, CEO of Making Space, is currently Vice-Chair of the MHPF.
