If you have, or are recovering from, a mental health condition and you’re claiming long-term Incapacity Benefit, the DWP will shortly be asking you to undertake an Incapacity Benefit Reassessment to decide whether you could be considered fit for work.
When they contact you, you can call on the Making Space Work4you service to help you through the process.
We’ll make sure you have the right information to take with you for your interview, or we can attend the interview with you if you wish, and help with any appeals if necessary.If you are assessed as being ready for work, please don’t panic. We can help with relevant training to suit your needs and provide volunteering opportunities to build your confidence. Many of our volunteers have already completed the reassessment process and will understand exactly what you’re going through.
For many reasons, people with mental health conditions find it difficult to engage in employment opportunities. The Making Space Peer Mentoring service aims to help with these problems…so, if you’re aiming for full or part-time employment – or maybe you’d like to try some voluntary work first – then we can help you gain the skills and the confidence you need.
You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake some voluntary work with us as a Peer Mentor if you want to help others going through the reassessment process too.
