Lesley Reznicek

Lesley’s family have been members of Making Space since its early days, originally joining because Lesley’s sister has a mental health condition. Now, Lesley has become a Trustee and has added her considerable skills to those of the other Board members.

After gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Vocational Guidance at Reading University, Lesley moved to Hertfordshire CC where her job was finding work for unemployed 16 year olds. She also developed ‘Introduction to work’ courses for people with learning disabilities.

Lesley’s talents were recognised by the John Lewis Partnership, who ‘poached’ her from her council job and threw her in at the deep end of front-line of selling, where she gained a real understanding of the pressures facing managers and their teams.

As her knowledge and credibility grew, Lesley moved up through the organisation, spending six years in HR, administration and communication with Waitrose, where her most challenging task was organising Annual General Meetings for 7,000 employees, at 24 different venues!

As part of Central Management she also visited workplaces across the country, balancing the needs of the business with the people who worked in it. Along the way, she was awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

After getting married and spending time living in the USA, Lesley returned to the UK where she developed the HR department of a residential club, successfully winning Investors in People status.

Today, she is also a member of the North Regional Board of the Co-operative Group and relaxes enjoying all the benefits of living in a rural setting. Lesley also likes ballroom and Latin-American dancing, follows Burnley FC, and is a big fan of track athletics and, especially, Mo Farah!
