Wyn Jones, Director of Finance

Wyn is responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s financial strategy supports the broader strategic aims of Making Space, as well as safeguarding the long term financial viability of the charity.

A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, he has a BA Honours Degree in Business Studies. He also draws on an impressive history in senior financial positions with a number of other organisations.

Until 1994 Wyn was Group Accountant for The Club Group, a car leasing company, before moving to the role of Deputy Director of Finance at The Weald of Kent Community NHS Trust.

In 1998 he became the South of England Regional Finance Manager for Leonard Cheshire Disability, leaving his post in 2004 to become Director of Finance at Making Space.

From the outset, his priority was to tackle the challenges faced by a charitable organisation like Making Space. Today, he is proud of his achievement in improving the financial performance of the charity – something he accomplished in all his previous positions too.

Away from the day-to-day business of finance, Wyn has been a charity trustee and a school governor. He relaxes by reading crime fiction and by working on his garden.

He’s also a long-distance supporter of Ystradgynlais RFC, the team he played youth rugby for, prior to turning out for St Julian High School Old Boys in Newport, and for Sheffield Tigers.
