Befriending
The principle aim of Befriending is to enrich, enhance and improve a Service User's overall quality of life by providing the reassurance of a one-to-one friendship.
- A locally recruited volunteer is carefully and sensitively matched with a Service User.
- Befrienders are independent of other services and provide their supportive role entirely through friendship.
- Befrienders also help Service Users by introducing or accompanying them to social and community leisure facilities.
- By building trust, the Befriender aims to also build the self-esteem and confidence of the Service User.
