Dementia
Dementia is not a single illness. The most common cause is Alzheimer's disease, but dementia can also be the result of a stroke, a mini-stroke or a whole range of other factors which are still being studied.
Different types of dementia have varying rates of progression so it’s recommended that people living with it are involved in as much physically and mentally engaging activity as their condition allows. Medical treatments for some forms of dementia may also lessen the effects for a period of time.
The Making Space team ensures that dignity and respect are the cornerstone of our approach to caring for those with dementia and that the most appropriate medical, social and nursing care for each person is always followed, with the emphasis on helping to provide the most enjoyable everyday life.
Making Space has developed a new and innovative approach to dementia care. Our view is simple - people with dementia have a right to stay doing what they always did for as long as possible - our approach can be summarised by three words – Quality; Lifestyle and Personalised.
Our accommodation services offer the highest quality, exclusive environments combined with a standard of support that allows people to live well and as independently as possible.
As demand for dementia services grows we are well placed to offer people a high quality service that suits them.
We are also increasingly investing in dementia products that provide extra information and opportunities for people who care for people with dementia. Our new Dementia Café in Bury is something we intend to replicate in many places across the UK in the coming months.
