Dementia Awareness Days in Doncaster

We are marking Dementia Awareness Week 17-23 May with a series of events in Doncaster.

Happenings including coffee mornings, memory cafes, a charity golf day, live music and tea dances are being held across the region.

Our three day centres, which provide vital respite for dementia carers, are at the heart of the activity.

Sunday 17 May will see a coffee morning at Crimpsall Centre, Hexthorpe, 10am-12noon. Sandalwood Day Centre, Wheatley Hills will hold its Dementia Awareness Week coffee morning on Monday 18 May 10am-12noon. And it’s Bentley’s Moathills Centre’s turn on Tuesday 19 May, 10am to 12noon.

A Making Space Dementia Friends session, also at Moathills Day centre, on Saturday 23 May (3-4pm) will give members of the public the chance to find out about volunteer befriending opportunities.

Service manager Janet Griffiths said: “The coffee mornings are a fantastic occasion for anyone with a new dementia diagnosis and their carers to come along and find out about the support on offer in the local area.

"Regular service users are of course equally welcome to come and share coffee and biscuits and make some new friends."
