Honor Simpson wins Great British Care Award
The annual accolade rewards individuals who strive for excellence across the care sector.
Honor has been recognised for the leadership she provides Derby City Dementia Support Service. Under her management, a team of 5 staff and 20 volunteers deliver a range of services including dementia support workers, carer support, respite, activity sessions and awareness training.
On presenting Honor with the Dementia Carer award, an awards spokesperson said: "Honor has a very clear understanding of dementia and is proud of her work. Her warmth and compassion is very clear."
Honor said: "This award is clearly something that no one person could achieve without the support and commitment of a dedicated team and some excellent volunteers. The award is a credit to us all collectively."
Line manager Dawn Longden-Whiting said: "Honor never stops learning and sharing her knowledge. She isn’t afraid to take risks in her services if they provide benefit, and her passion, drive and commitment are relentless. She’s the glue that holds this service together."
