Mental Health Awareness Week 2015

This year Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 11-17 May and the theme is ‘mindfulness’.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a mind-body approach to wellbeing, a way of managing and dealing with thoughts and feelings by engaging with the present moment, without getting stuck in the past or worrying about the future.

Did you know mindfulness has been proven to be a cost-effective, evidence-based treatment for mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety? Find out more about mindfulness.

There are so many different ways for you to get involved in Mental Health Awareness Week and celebrate mindfulness.

Ideas to get involved

  • Host/attend a creative art workshop and paint pictures, build sculptures or try something new
  • Get out in the community and promote ‘being mindful’
  • Organise a wellbeing walk
  • Have/join a meditation or relaxation session
