Rachel Yates wins Great British Care Award

Congratulations are in order for Rachel Yates, our Dementia SPACE lead who was awarded a Great British Care Award at the North West regional finals.

Rachel was crowned the best in the region after receiving the care award.

The annual accolade recognise individuals who strive for excellence across the care sector.

And it's a double win as last year, Rachel's colleague Kathryn Penrith took home the North West Care Award crown for Dementia Carer of the Year.

Rachel heads up our dementia team across the UK. It is her lead that ensures best practice dementia care is in place in all of our services, from residential care, to home support, community groups, activities and awareness training.

Rachel, who has worked for us for 14 years, said she was extremely happy to receive credit for her work.

She said: “I am truly honoured to have received the award, it really means a lot to me. I am very grateful to work with some amazing people who have inspired me to make a difference. Without their help I would not have got to where I am now, so I thank them.

“I have worked in this industry for many years and have found it very satisfying and very rewarding. It’s a job I’m very passionate about.”

On presenting Rachel with the Dignity in Care award, an awards spokesperson said:  “Rachel demonstrated a real commitment to dignity and promoting it within her organisation through her role as a champion. The judges were impressed by her knowledge and passion as well as her recognition. She knew people should be supported to achieve their dreams no matter how others may perceive them.

Congratulations once again Rachel!!
