Making Space are thrilled to be nominated for three prestigious national Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, for Community Engagement, Dementia Care, and Compassion.

This Christmas season, Making Space was filled with warmth and generosity as schemes across the country hosted a vibrant array of events. From Baking Space fundraisers to festive parties, we brought joy to the people we support and their communities.

October saw the return of one of the most heart-warming events on the Making Space calendar, the Our People Awards 2024, an inspiring day dedicated to celebrating the incredible achievements of the people we support, our volunteers, and our colleagues. Held at Aintree Racecourse, this year's event brought together over 300 attendees to enjoy a day filled with uplifting stories, engaging activities, music, and most importantly, laughter.

Our team at Carers Wellbeing Service Calderdale are celebrating after winning two more prestigious awards for its work with unpaid carers. The entire team of support workers was named Home Care Team of the Year at the Great British Care Awards Yorkshire and Humberside.

One of our incredible volunteers has been named Unpaid Carer of the Year at the Yorkshire and Humber Great British Care Awards (GBCA). Anne Martin, 72, won the award for volunteering in weekly dementia cafes held around Rotherham.

Liz Fairfield is a finalist in the Inspirational Volunteer category at the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care (WAGS) awards.

Greengate House was rated Excellent by local authority assessors when they paid a visit at the end of September.

Our Kingshill team were crowned winner at the Great British Care Awards in the north west. The team was handed the Co-Production award in recognition of how they actively involves the 15 residents in designing their own care.
