Making Space has celebrated the dedication and compassion of colleagues at our fourth annual Colleague Awards. From long service heroes to inspiring newcomers, the winners highlight the incredible impact our teams make every day.

As part of Suicide Prevention Month and in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day, our Bradford and Airedale Carer Support Service proudly joined the Baton of Hope Tour 25 in Bradford. Together with carers, volunteers and staff, we carried the baton at Valley Parade and connected with the community at the Charity Village, standing in solidarity to raise awareness, remember loved ones, and share the support available to carers across the district.

Making Space is proud to be part of National Inclusion Week® 2025 (15–21 September), joining thousands of organisations across the UK in championing equity, diversity and belonging. With this year’s theme, Now is the Time, we’re reflecting on our own inclusion journey and celebrating the colleagues who are helping us build a culture where every voice is valued and everyone feels they belong.

We are delighted to share that We All Are One – Making Space Carers Support Group in Doncaster has been named a finalist in the Carers UK Awards 2025. Recognised in the Community Group category, the nomination celebrates the group’s inclusive and compassionate approach to supporting unpaid carers, and the incredible difference it makes to people’s lives every week.

Stockport Connect Hub has officially launched! Making Space is proud to lead a new chapter of community mental health support in Stockport, delivering the Mental Health Prevention and Enablement Service from a refreshed and welcoming space at Progress House. The service launched with two vibrant community events and is now open daily, offering a wide range of support and activities.

The 2025 Our People Awards brought together nearly 270 guests for a joyful day of celebration at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. With music, activities, and inspiring stories, the event honoured the incredible people we support and the power of co-production in action.

Our Neurodiversity in the Criminal Justice System project has been awarded first place at the 2025 N8 PRP Policing Innovation Forum. Recognised for its innovative approach and practical resources, the project is helping to improve outcomes for neurodivergent individuals across the justice system.

Making Space has reached the semi-finals of the Care Innovation Challenge 2025 with the Co-Pro GAME – a creative, co-produced tool designed to embed co-production and spark meaningful conversations in care. Developed with people we support, the game impressed judges during a weekend of innovation in Coventry. We’ll now pitch at the final in Birmingham this October – stay tuned!

We pulled out all the stops to thank our brilliant volunteers at this year’s celebration event at Doncaster Racecourse. With over 60 volunteers from across the country, a Dolly Parton tribute act, and even a surprise duet from Deputy CEO Phil Orton, it was a fantastic day of fun, food and appreciation.

To mark Co-production Week 2025, we’re celebrating the inspiring ways people with lived experience are helping shape services across Making Space. From national award wins to personal journeys of growth and change, this year’s theme – Innovation through co-production – shines a light on what’s possible when we design and deliver support with people, not for them.
