Less Clicks in ’26 - a New Year’s resolution that changes lives

Published 6 January 2026

This year, choose a New Year’s Resolution that boosts your wellbeing and makes a real difference to others.

Join Less Clicks in ’26 – the challenge that swaps scrolling for self-care, hobbies, movement and spending time together.

Whether you want to try something new, get fitter, or spend more time outdoors, Less Clicks in ’26 is your chance to reset after the busy festive period and start the year feeling good – all while raising vital funds for people living with dementia, mental health conditions, older people, people with learning disabilities and unpaid carers.

Why less clicks?

Research shows that reducing the amount of time we spend on screens can improve sleep, boost mood and support better mental health. Less Clicks in ’26 is all about taking back your time, focusing on what matters and doing something positive for yourself – with the added motivation of helping others along the way.

And you don’t need to go it alone. Team up with friends, family or colleagues, keep each other motivated and enjoy supporting Making Space together.

Real People. Real Challenges. Real Impact.

Our incredible supporters took on challenges for Making Space in 2025 – proving that anyone can get involved, set a goal and make a difference, here a few examples:

Cerys’ Great North Swim – £890 raised
This summer, Cerys Gaffney, a carer supported by our St Helens Family Support service, completed the Arla Great North Swim at Lake Windermere. Swimming in honour of the support she received during her daughter’s addiction, Cerys smashed her £700 target and raised an incredible £890 (plus Gift Aid!). Her fundraising helped provide a peaceful wellbeing retreat for carers – giving them space to reconnect with nature, themselves, and each other.

Corrina’s Ultra MMA Fight – over £200 raised
Not every challenge needs to be outdoors – or ordinary!
Corrina Bannister stepped well outside her comfort zone by taking on an Ultra MMA fight, raising funds for Inspiring Minds in Preston. After weeks of tough training, Corrina delivered a sensational three-round performance in front of nearly 600 spectators – earning Fight of the Night. She raised over £200, proving that any challenge, traditional or unusual, can create huge impact as long as you’re not glued to a screen!

Mitie’s Marathon Efforts – over £1,000 raised
Our partners at Mitie also went above and beyond.

  • Contract Manager Denise Darbyshire completed the Rasselbock Half Marathon in scorching heat, running non-stop for 2 hours 45 minutes and raising £469.
  • Meanwhile, the wider Mitie team took on a virtual walk of the entire coast of Great Britain – 7,723 miles between them. By walking, running and even counting steps during their workday, the team raised over £1,000. They said:

“By working as one team, we’ve shown how collaboration and determination can help improve lives in the communities we work in.”

These inspiring stories show that with determination – and fewer clicks – you can achieve something special.

Your Less Clicks in ’26 challenge starts here

Choose a challenge that helps you spend less time online and more time doing something that lifts you up. Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Walk more, step more, move more
Take on a walking or step challenge for January ’26. What about 10k steps a week? A daily nature walk? A realistic goal that helps you move more and feel better.

2. Cook something new each week
Ditch takeaway apps and try out a new weeknight recipe - invite friends over, share a meal and ask them to donate what they think it’s worth.

3. Explore the outdoors
Find new walking routes, breathe in fresh air and get sponsored for time spent in nature - share your journeys online to inspire others (once you’ve finished walking, of course!).

4. Learn something new
Visit your library and learn about a new subject - ask friends to quiz you and get sponsored for each book you read or question you answer correctly.

5. Make your own candles
Pick up an inexpensive candle-making kit and create your own designs - sell them to raise money – handmade items always go down a treat.

6. Get creative
Painting, colouring, drawing or crafting can boost your wellbeing and reduce stress - Sell your creations to help fund Making Space services.

Why your support matters

Taking part in Less Clicks in ’26 will:
