Celebrating our shortlisted teams at the Stars of Social Care – Teams Awards 2026

We are proud to share that four Making Space teams have been shortlisted for the Stars of Social Care - Teams Awards 2026 - a celebration of the collaboration, compassion and dedication that define social care at its very best.
These awards shine a light on the incredible teams who go above and beyond every day to support people across our communities. Social care is built on teamwork, and this event recognises the many different roles that come together to make a real and lasting difference.
From supported living and community services to specialist mental health support, the awards highlight not only the care delivered, but also the creativity, innovation and humanity that underpin everything our teams do.
Our shortlisted teams
Mitchell Street Team, Clitheroe – The Joy Makers Award
Part of Clitheroe & Accrington Supported Living and Outreach, the team create a warm, inclusive environment where people truly feel they belong. Through meaningful activities and strong relationships, they build confidence, friendships and community. They were shortlisted for their ability to bring comfort and positivity in all circumstances, from creating a space so valued that individuals travel miles to attend, to their compassionate response during a flooding emergency, ensuring people felt safe, supported and reassured throughout.
Greengate House Team, St Helens – The Amazing Activity Team Award
The team transform everyday care into engaging, meaningful experiences that inspire and uplift. Supporting adults with mental health conditions, they deliver creative, personalised activities that build confidence, skills and community connections. They were shortlisted for their imaginative approach to activities, including the much-loved “Greengate Grannies” performances - staff-led dance routines that brought joy, laughter and unforgettable shared moments - alongside a wide range of inclusive, confidence-building opportunities.
Huddersfield Road Young Person Support Service – The Supported Living Team Award
The team provide person-centred, empowering support for young people aged 18–25 with a range of needs, creating a safe environment where individuals can shape their own futures. They were shortlisted for their strong focus on independence and outcomes, supporting young people to build life skills, access education and employment, and move into their own homes, delivering lasting, meaningful improvements to quality of life.
Open Door Team, Stockport – The Mental Health Team Award
The team provides a vital, non-clinical crisis support service in Stockport, offering a safe alternative to A&E for adults experiencing mental health crisis. They were shortlisted for their life-saving impact and compassionate, person-centred approach. The team create a safe space where people are truly heard and supported without judgement, using empathy and lived experience to help individuals through crisis and build resilience.

We are excited to celebrate alongside so many inspiring teams from across the sector at this year’s awards. The inaugural event will be hosted by Josie Gibson and will take place at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel on Friday 8 May 2026.
