Giving with purpose: Our new Fundraising Strategy

Published 8 April 2026
We are excited to introduce a new chapter in fundraising at Making Space.
From April 2026, we have launched Giving with Purpose - a new fundraising strategy designed to bring greater clarity, flexibility and impact to how we support the people who draw on our services.
A clearer way to give
Previously, all fundraised income was held in one central pot and distributed across services. While this approach worked, we recognised an opportunity to make things clearer and more meaningful for our supporters.
Our new strategy introduces three dedicated funds, making it easier for individuals, businesses and organisations to understand exactly how their donations are used – and to choose the areas they feel most passionate about supporting.
Introducing our three funds
Kind Hearts Fund
Helping people achieve dreams and enjoy meaningful experiences – from day trips and holidays to creative and social activities that improve wellbeing - find out more.
Being Ready Fund
Supporting people to prepare for future challenges – including wellbeing initiatives, preventative support and resources that build resilience and confidence - find out more.
Tailor-Making Fund
Providing the tools and opportunities people need to build independence, such as life skills training, travel support and employment preparation - find out more.
Making a real difference
To help launch the Kind Hearts Fund, we invited colleagues to nominate individuals they support for a dream experience.
We received so many thoughtful and inspiring nominations. One of those selected is Jackie, who lives at our Pratt Street service in Burnley. A huge fan of Wuthering Heights, Jackie is looking forward to visiting Haworth, bringing her love of classic literature to life in a place she has always wanted to explore.
Local Travel Consultant and corporate partner, Marcus Edwards from Not Just Travel has kindly offered to provide this experience free of charge for Jackie and two staff or friends, acting as both chauffeur and tour guide, who said:
I am so happy to be able to support the work that Making Space does in the community to improve the lives of those who need a friendly face, a helping hand or some much needed company and kindness. I was really touched by this lady's story and wanted to provide an experience that would make her smile, provide an opportunity for a break and for her to make some happy memories in a place she really wanted to visit.
Bob Towers, Making Space Fundraising Manager, said:
We’re excited to launch our new fundraising strategy, Giving with Purpose. Jackie’s story shows how kindness can be turned into meaningful experiences. By introducing these three funds, we’re giving supporters more choice and a stronger connection to the impact of their donations – helping more people achieve their goals, prepare for the future and build independence.
Ultimately, Giving with Purpose is about connecting generosity with meaningful outcomes, helping more people live happier, healthier and more independent lives. Find out more and support our work here.
