Mitie Cumbria Consortium team go the extra mile for Making Space

A dedicated team from Mitie Cumbria Consortium, part of the UK’s leading facilities management company, has been stepping up in a big way to support Making Space.
The team, based at Hinton House on Birchwood Park, have chosen us their Charity of the Year to help fund vital services in their local community. Every pound raised goes directly to Making Space projects in Warrington, supporting people living with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and dementia, as well as carers across the region.
Over two months, between 1 September and 31 October 2025, the Mitie team have been taking on an ambitious challenge - to virtually walk the entire coastal path of Great Britain, a total of 7,723 miles,
Using a group step counter app, colleagues have clocked up miles by walking, running, and even while carrying out their daily duties at Hinton House. They’ve also been taking turns on a treadmill kindly donated by Decathlon, helping push the team towards their impressive target.

This challenge reflects Mitie’s commitment to creating better places and thriving communities, bringing colleagues together to make a positive impact. By working as one team, we’ve shown how collaboration and determination can help improve lives in the communities we work in.
This latest challenge follows a year of fantastic fundraising efforts from the Mitie team. Earlier this year, team member Denise Darbyshire completed the Rasselbock Half Marathon, raising £469, and several colleagues also joined the Making Space annual canal walk in May.
