Working together to deliver supported living in Huyton

Making Space is proud to be providing person-centred support at Bracken Court, a new supported living development in Huyton, commissioned by Knowsley Council to support adults with mental health–related needs.
Bracken Court forms part of a larger housing scheme developed by Prima Housing Group, designed to provide high-quality, modern homes for people with a range of support requirements. To mark the opening, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Cllr Del Arnall, visited the development to meet residents and staff delivering support on site.
The visit was attended by Making Space colleagues, including Deputy CEO, Phil Orton, alongside colleagues from the council’s Commissioning Team.
Bracken Court is a purpose-built supported living block made up of nine self-contained apartments, enabling residents to live independently while receiving flexible, personalised support from Making Space colleagues based at the service.
The wider development provides a mix of general needs, specialist, accessible and adaptable housing, including homes suitable for wheelchair users and visitors with disabilities.
During the visit, Cllr Arnall met with tenants and Making Space colleagues and heard first-hand about the positive impact the service is already having. One tenant shared that moving into Bracken Court “has saved their life – it’s been life-changing.”
Cllr Arnall praised the personalised, participative approach taken by the team and highlighted how the strong partnership working behind the scheme has created an environment where people feel included, respected and supported, saying:
I’m delighted to see this scheme complete, providing much-needed supported living and general needs accommodation for our residents.
Leah Coggins, Knowsley Support Housing Service Manager for Making Space, reflected on the journey:
