About the Community Navigators Team
The team support adults over the age of 18 in Cambridgeshire by giving information, advice and guidance to improve wellbeing and enable them to access local help and services.
Why should you volunteer?
This is a good opportunity to give something back, meet people, be part of a team, to improve your confidence and gain experience. Volunteering provides a sense of fulfilment by making a difference in their community.
What will you be doing?
Befriending is a service that provides companionship and support to people who are lonely or socially isolated. It can help people feel less alone, improve their mental and emotional wellbeing and connect them with their community. You will:
- Provide regular companionship through visits (in community venues) or calls
- Offer empathetic listening and emotional support
- Encourage social engagement and reduce isolation
- Follow safeguarding guidelines and report concerns
What skills and experience will you need?
We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, good listeners and enjoy chatting with other people and want to help others. A commitment to regular, consistent support is crucial.
We can help with reimbursing travel costs, and you will get ongoing support and training from the friendly team.
