About Stockport Connect Hub
We support people over 18 who are accessing or have accessed secondary mental health services. It is a safe and welcoming space where people can get advice and support. This includes therapeutic activities encouraging people to be active, connect and to improve their wellbeing. We are running a football sessions to support this.
Why should you volunteer?
This is good opportunity to be active, have fun whilst giving something back. This opportunity is ideal for someone who has an interest in football but also wants to gain experience in the field of mental health.
What will you be doing?
-
To volunteer at the football group, helping to facilitate football activities such as
warm up, drills with support from the lead facilitator. -
To welcome new members to the group and foster teamwork, fair play respectful
atmosphere with participants. -
To help with setting up and packing away equipment.
-
To help with communicating session updates and with peer support.
-
To be aware of the organization’s Health and Safety Policy and act responsibly.
-
To report any concerns to the person’s support worker and/or service manager.
What skills and experience will you need?
Need to play football and ideally some experience of drills (or a willingness to learn). This role is better for a male volunteer as the group is predominantly male. You do need to have an understanding of mental illness, empathy and be a people person. It is important that you promote a non-judgemental and stigma free environment.
