Making Space teams across the country marked Carers Rights Day 2025 with a month-long celebration of connection, empowerment and community. From vibrant cultural events to bustling information marketplaces and wellbeing-focused gatherings, services came together to ensure carers felt seen, supported and informed about their rights. Here’s a look at some of the inspiring highlights from across our charity.

A team from Mitie Cumbria Consortium has gone the extra mile - all 7,723 of them - by completing a virtual walk around the entire coastline of Great Britain in support of Making Space.

Making Space is pleased to continue its successful partnership with Plus Dane Housing Association, delivering the Wellbeing First service to support the mental health and wellbeing of customers across Cheshire. Since 2022, the project has helped nearly 200 people, and the renewed partnership ensures this vital support can continue.

Three exceptional women from Making Space have been shortlisted for the 2025 Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care (WAGS) Awards, recognising their leadership, resilience and impact across the sector.

This festive season, Making Space is inviting everyone to Care at Christmas - to care for others while caring for yourself. The festive season can be a joyful time, but for many, it also brings loneliness, stress and financial pressures. Through our Care at Christmas Appeal, you can make a real difference by taking on a self-care fundraising challenge, making a donation, or buying our beautiful Christmas cards designed by young carers. Together, we can bring comfort, connection and kindness to people who might otherwise spend Christmas alone.

A new Making Space project in Kirkby, backed by Merseyside Police, is helping people with mental health conditions stay safe from scams and “mate crime.” Through workshops and staff training, the initiative has raised awareness, built confidence, and strengthened community connections - empowering residents to recognise exploitation and protect themselves and others from harm.

This International Men’s Day (19 November), we’re celebrating the inspiring men across Making Space who bring compassion, balance, and purpose to social care. This year’s theme, ‘Inspiring Men and Boys,’ recognises positive role models and the power of empathy, equality, and connection. Meet some of the men making a difference every day — and discover how their stories are helping to break stereotypes and inspire others to join a career in care.

On Thursday 20 November, we’ll be joining carers across the UK to mark Carers Rights Day. This year’s theme, ‘Know your rights, use your rights’, highlights the importance of carers understanding the support and protections available to them. Our teams will be hosting and attending events to celebrate carers and help them access advice, wellbeing support, and their full rights.
