Making Space is proud to celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2025 by recognising the incredible contributions of our volunteers, hosting a special celebration event, and sharing exciting news about our Investing in Volunteers accreditation.

A unique dining event in Doncaster gave people with swallowing difficulties the chance to enjoy a safe, dignified meal out – thanks to a partnership between Making Space and Wiltshire Farm Foods. The event highlights the vital role corporate support plays in delivering inclusive, life-enhancing experiences.

Colleagues, volunteers, and the people we support came together for a sun-filled day of remembrance, and community spirit at the Making Space Canal Walk 2025.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Making Space has been shortlisted for two Housing with Care Awards 2025, recognising excellence in providing care, support and co-production.

Residents at Hollymere and Hartley Place have spent the past year celebrating Ellesmere Port’s working-class heritage through the Port Histories Project. Funded by Historic England, the project ended with a joyful finale event attended by the Mayor of Ellesmere Port.

Making Space has been awarded a £3,000 grant from The Cambridge Building Society Community Fund to support unpaid carers in Cambridgeshire who are experiencing domestic abuse. The funding will help cover emergency accommodation and transport costs for up to 50 individuals in crisis.

Making Space is celebrating national success at the Great British Care Awards and Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, with Daryhl Lewis winning Care Newcomer of the Year and Rosemary Stephen taking home the Compassion Award. These prestigious events honour excellence in social care, and we are incredibly proud of all our winners and finalists who continue to make a profound difference in people’s lives. 

Unpaid carers shouldn’t have to choose between staying warm or putting food on the table. At Making Space, we’re here to support them through these difficult times, offering help when it’s needed most.
